Pink Mulla Mulla - Ptilotus exaltatus.
One of the largest and most popular ptilotus. Already in the year of planting, it blooms with incomparable large fluffy inflorescences that do not lose their decorative effect throughout the summer, are excellent in cutting and can be used for winter bouquets. The height of the plant is about 35 cm, which allows you to grow it in a pot or container.

A perennial herbaceous rosette plant from the Amaranthaceae family, which can be grown as an annual. Homeland: arid plains of Australia.
The root is taproot, fleshy. The leaves are elliptical, juicy, smooth, light green. The basal leaves are larger, up to 20 cm long and up to 6 cm wide, the leaves on the stems are smaller, up to 10 cm.
The stems are bare or slightly pubescent. The apical inflorescences are up to 20 cm long and up to 5 cm wide.
The flowers are small, bright, fragrant, neon pink or purple, with densely pubescent bracts, tightly collected in apical spike-shaped inflorescences. The ripe inflorescence consists of fluffy fruits, each of which contains one small, about 1 mm, kidney-shaped brown seed.
Location: the brightest, sunniest.
Watering: regular, but moderate - it tolerates short-term drought better than over-watering. Ptilotus rarely requires watering, except in very dry conditions.
Fertilizers: you can use complex mineral fertilizer for indoor plants 2 times a month from early spring to late autumn. Do not fertilize in winter.
Soil: loose, nutritious soil, with the addition of sand, with a slightly acidic reaction. You can use universal soil for indoor plants.
Plants are susceptible to root rot. To prevent this plant problem, you can use preparations designed to combat fungal pathogens in the soil. If your plant was in soil infected with root rot fungus, then the pot should be soaked in a bleach solution before reuse (this will destroy any remaining spores).
Temperature conditions: very drought-resistant plants. In winter, it is advisable to keep at a temperature of +18 +20°C.
Reproduction: root cuttings and seeds.
Seeds can be cleaned from the fluffy shell or not, this does not affect germination, and without pre-treatment, spread on the surface of moist soil, lightly press or sprinkle a little, spray and cover. Germinate in a bright, warm place (+23 +26 °C and above). The soil should remain moist all the time, but not wet.
Use: flowers have a long life in a vase - more than two weeks. They look equally impressive when used as the main flower in a vase, as well as when combined with other flowers. They are so fluffy and voluminous that even a few stems can make an interesting sight. They are easy to dry: ptilotus is ideal for use in dried flower arrangements. To dry ptilotus, hang the stems upside down in a dry place while they are still fresh, then leave for two weeks.
